Luke 21:34-38 Jesus in Public.
Jesus, every day you went to the temple to teach. You warned people to avoid the traps of this world. You knew people tend to avoid the big questions of life. But, evidently, they knew you were teaching things that really mattered, because the crowds gathered at the temple early each morning to hear you.
Jesus, were you like a weary preacher, knowing how little your warnings were understood, how little people change. Were you discouraged? You warned them of the coming destruction, and how your word was more solid than the giant stones in beautiful buildings. Jesus, your warning seems less urgent now, 2,000 years later. But am I just like those who listen and then go on my way. Are you weary of hearing my feeble, selfish prayers?
